The Challenge: Fostering Recognition in a Remote Environment

With employees spread across multiple locations, Rad AI faced the challenge of ensuring that team members felt valued and connected. “Being a fully remote company, it’s really important for us that we find ways to celebrate, and give feedback, and do shoutouts because we aren’t a company that is always in the same office,” shared Janelle Henry, Head of People at Rad AI.

Traditionally, in-office interactions provide spontaneous opportunities for recognition, but Rad AI needed a way to bring those moments to the digital workspace.

Since adopting GoProfiles, recognition has become an integral part of Rad AI’s work culture. “GoProfiles has been really important for us because it’s part of our company traditions,” Janelle said. The company has even developed a unique tradition of sending weekly shoutouts: “Typically, our employee base likes to give their shoutouts, their recognition, their gratitude using GoProfiles on a Thursday. It’s always kind of fun when you log in on Thursday morning, you start to hear the little pings and see all of the cute emojis and pictures.”

These shoutouts don’t just remain within the platform—they are shared widely across the company. “We are a Slack-based company, and GoProfiles has a gratitude channel where those recognitions get shared out,” Janelle noted. Rad AI even runs friendly competitions to see who gives and receives the most recognition.

Customization and Accessibility Drive Engagement

One of the features that stood out to Rad AI was GoProfiles’ flexibility in allowing customized recognition categories. “You can make [Bravos] a little bit more in the spirit or tone of your company,” Janelle shared. This customization allows Rad AI to make the recognition process more personal and aligned with their company values.

Additionally, GoProfiles provides valuable insights into engagement. “The tracking feature is really nice to understand who is sending recognitions. It helps us mitigate biases and ensure they’re being used fairly,” Janelle added. The platform’s transparency allows Rad AI to maintain an equitable recognition culture without making it feel like a required task.

Beyond daily recognition, GoProfiles also plays a key role in celebrating employee birthdays. “We do use the birthday celebrations, which is really nice,” Janelle said. Rad AI has even linked GoProfiles’ birthday reminders with a unique company tradition. “When it was my birthday last year, everyone said happy birthday and left fun messages. Then, one of our senior admins used GoProfiles’ birthday prompts to find a bakery near me and send treats to my house.”

GoProfiles’ Impact: A Thriving Culture of Recognition

The results of integrating GoProfiles into Rad AI’s culture have been impressive. In 2024 alone, the company gave out nearly 1,600 unique Bravos, with some employees receiving almost 50 in a year and others giving more than 100.

It starts more conversations as well—like ‘I saw your GoProfile the other day, great job!’—even if you don’t know the person,” Janelle explained.

When asked if she would recommend GoProfiles, Janelle’s response was an enthusiastic yes. “I think it’s really great for companies of all sizes looking for a meaningful yet cost-effective way to celebrate and shout out in a fun, light-hearted way,” she said. “It doesn’t feel as heavy as formal performance reviews, and it’s just a nice conversation starter.”
